#Eaglesの 「#Hotel California 」 を最近はよく聞く機会がある。なんと1976年の曲である。その何とも言えない素敵なメロディと心に響くボーカル、そして曲の後半での圧倒的なあの神秘的なギターの音色。そして一番印象的なのはこの曲の衝撃的な詞であると言われている。 ホテルカルフォルニアの解釈は人によって大きく分かれる。冒頭のコリタスがマリファナの隠語であり、まるで幻想を見ているような描写もされていることから麻薬のことを歌った曲であると考える人もいるらしい。カリフォルニアのきらびやかな暮らしとそれに惹かれ、訪れたが最後二度と抜け出せない恐怖をこれほど印象的に描写した曲は後にも先にも現れないと言われている。この歌の詞についてはEaglesのメンバーも多くを語ろうとはしないという。
