日本でも人気があるスウェーデンが誇る世界的ロックンロール・バンド。シングル「Hate to say I Told You So」を含むアルバムVeni Vidi Viciousのリリースで頭角を現してきた。 2001年にイギリスでコンピレーション・アルバム『ユア・ニュー・フェイヴァリット・バンド』をリリースし、ヒットしてガレージロック・リバイバルの旗手と言われるようになったという。2004年に『ティラノザウルス・ハイヴス』をリリースして、世界中で大ヒットを記録した。
よくこのバンドの説明には『1993年にランディ・フィッツシモンズなる人物から日時と集合場所が書かれた手紙を送られた5人がバンドを結成した、と言われる。以後、この人物がバンドの第6のメンバーとして裏で今も活躍している』という風に説明されているがそのことはよくわからない。
そういえば前々回に「スウェーデンのLast Days Of Aprilはかなり好きなバンドだ。結構スウェーデンていうのは珍しいのかな。」なんて書きましたけど、よく考えるとそんなことはないですね。
Last Days Of AprilとはRockでも全く趣が違いますけどね。メンバー全員が衣装の色を白と黒で統一しているのが特徴とあるけれど、そのエンターテインメント性はライブにも如何なく発揮され世界中の音楽専誌がこぞって称賛しているような多面的な魅力を持つガレージ・ロック・バンドです。
2009年と2014年に来日していますね。
